Ideas for holidays, weekends and trips in Saint Chamond and its surroundings
Saint-Chamond is a pretty town situated at the heart of the Loire département which is full of charm and culture, and at only 48km from Lyon, you have the choice between venturing into the city and staying in Saint-Chamond for a more peaceful day. In the town itself, you will find plenty of stunning architecture, some of which has been classed as an historic monument, such as the St Pierre Church, a 17th-century edifice. Saint-Chamond is also home to three impressive dams. The Parc naturel régional du Pilat (regional park) is just 10km from the hotel, and is the perfect place for an afternoon stroll or cycle, maybe even with a picnic.
The city of Lyon is a 40-minute journey from Saint-Chamond, so is ideal for a day trip (or even a few as there's so much to do and see). The Lyon Musée de Beaux-Arts (Fine Art Museum) houses the second-largest collection of art, sculpture and artefacts outside Paris, so do make sure to visit and prepare to be amazed at the collection. There is also a contemporary art museum located around the Place Bellecour area. Lyon is also known as France's capital of gastronomy, and on visiting the many restaurants and markets it's easy to see why! Before you leave, make sure to sample some of the local specialities, such as quenelles (fish dumplings), salad lyonnaise (lettuce, bacon, mustard dressing, poached egg and croutons) or tarte praline. You're certain to have a wonderful time by staying at the Campanile SAINT ETIENNE EST - Saint Chamond!
